7 high school students “possessed” in Barili

CEBU, Philippines - At least seven students of a public high school in Barangay Poblacion, Barili, Cebu were allegedly possessed by evil spirits in the middle of their class yesterday afternoon.

A Grade 9 student of Bartolome and Manuela Pañares Memorial National High School was reportedly the first to show signs of evil possession.

The student started screaming and convulsing and was allegedly gaining unusual strength. This prompted the other students to pray the rosary.

However, a fourth year student who led the rosary and several others were also possessed. School officials reported the incident to the Barili Police Station past 4 p.m.

Police Officer 3 Cristina Recaña, desk officer, said they immediately dispatched personnel to control the people who were already starting to gather at the school.

“Sa gitawag pito kabuok nasudlan, ang mga bata kusgan kaayo pero nakontrol ra sa mga dagko nga naa didto,” she said.

The students who were allegedly possessed were first brought to the convent and were blessed by the priest before they were transferred to the district hospital.

As of press time, there was no information available on the medical bulletin of the students.

School officials were not also available to give information on the incident. — (FREEMAN)
