CEBU, Philippines — Upon his appointment as chief executive of Cebu-grown Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) in 2009, Erramon Isidro “Monchu” M. Aboitiz has been tagged as the conglomerate’s transformer.

Under his leadership, Montxu, the grandchild of Aboitiz patriarch Don Ramon Aboitiz introduced several milestones, which transformed the company into a powerful and most diversified group of companies in the country. This makes Cebu his proud hometown.

He has been a director of AEV since May 9, 1994, member of the Board Risk and Reputation Management Committee since May 18, 2015, and Chairman of the Board Executive Committee since May 21, 2018. Mr. Aboitiz was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AEV from 1994 to December 2008.

A graduate in Business Administration, Major in Accounting and Finance from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington, USA, Montxu is also recognized for his role in the formulation and implementation of professional management practices in the context of a family-owned enterprise, showing an example for other families and entrepreneurs; and for “serving as an exemplary practitioner of good corporate governance, characterized by integrity, honesty, fairness, transparency, and accountability in his management career.”

According to Forbes Montxu’s net-worth is estimated at $130 million.

AEV was founded by Paulino Aboitiz in the 19th century as an abaca-trading and general merchandise business. Today, the company is involved in a wide span of industries, including power, banking, food, land development, and biofuel. (FREEMAN)
