Japanese imaging firm sees demand for printers in Philippines

CEBU, Philippines - A Japanese imaging giant sees further uptick in demand in the Philippines this year amid the country's sustained economic growth.

Epson Philippines Corp. still sees growth in its traditional business, the inkjet printers and projectors, which are still projected to lead its growth this year.

EPC Marketing Head Ed Bonoan told the media in an event in Siargao Island last week that the Philippines' economic growth has boosted demand for the company's products.

EPC President Toshimitsu Tanaka said the firm seeks to diversify from its traditional products, which currently have significant market shares locally.

Tanaka noted that innovation has allowed the tech company to go beyond its mainstream product categories.

Aside from the traditional, its other product segments include visual communications, wearable products and industrial solutions, and proprietary technologies.

Last year, the tech firm set up an office in Cebu for its customers here.

Bonoan said the company is still keen on expanding in provincial areas especially in Visayas and Mindanao.

He added there's a lot of demand coming from provinces where there are a number of potential dealers and business partners. — (FREEMAN)
