Frayna beats Dutch, English foes, shares 2nd

MANILA, Philippines -  Janelle Mae Frayna downed Dutch Jochem Mullink and Englishman Mark Gray to move to joint second after six rounds of the Brugse Meesters 2017 in Brugge, Belgium Tuesday night.

The twin wins hiked Frayna’s total to five points as she joined nine others in second, including 42-year-old Hungarian GM Attila Czebe, who beat her in the 21st Hogeschool Zeeland Open 2017 in Vlissingen, The Netherlands last week.

The Phl’s first Woman GM eyes a payback as she clashes with Czebe in the seventh round, which was being played at press time.

Dutch International Master Lucas Van Foreest lead the way with 5.5 points after trouncing Hungarian GM Zoltan Varga.

Frayna’s coach, GM Jayson Gonzales, drew with Italian Carlo Marzano for 4.5 points.
