Malacañang, BFP dispute UNTV lead

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang and Bureau of Fire Protection dispute the early Group A lead tomorrow while House of Representatives tries to get back on the winning track in the fifth UNTV Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.

The Malacañang Kamao and the BFP Firefighters are seeking to extend their winning run to three.

While both teams are coming off big wins, the Firefighters appear to be more inspired, having beaten the defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines, 78-74, the last time.

The Malacañang Kamao, on the other hand, leaned on a well-balanced attack to demolish the helpless Senate Defenders, 82-54.

Meantime, the HOR Solons target their third win in four games when they tangle with the National Housing Authority Builders at 5 p.m. while the Senate Defenders collide with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Black Wolves at 2 p.m.

Led by Egay Billiones, Erick Rodriquez, Erwin Sta. Maria and Rep. Mikee Romero, the Solons are expected to vent their ire on the Builders following a stunning 93-92 loss to the Bureau of Customs on a buzzer-beating from the midcourt by Gherome Ejercito.

The Defenders are out to nail their first win after dropping their first three games while the Black Wolves are toting a 1-2 card in the tournament offering P4 million to the champion.
