Hong-Kim team dominates 37th Yulo Memorial golfest

MANILA, Philippines - Richard Hong and Kim Jong Sam combined for a 163 as they bagged the overall championship in the 37th Jose Yulo Memorial golf tournament at the North and South courses of the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna recently.

Hong and Kim pooled an 80 in the first day then closed out with an 83 under the Stableford Aggregate scoring system to clinch the top honors in Cangolf’s premier annual member-guest tournament. The duo also won an IPad Mini 3 each.

Tommy Manotoc and Carlo Villaroman slowed down with a 77 in the final day to finish second at 160 and took home Sony Xperia C3 apiece while Joey Magcalayo and Allen Embuscado closed out with an 81 to place third at 157 worth a Lenovo Yoga Tab each.

Rekishige Tsuchiya shared the spotlight when he drove home a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage G4 after winning the grand raffle prize in the event backed by hole-in-one sponsors Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Corp/Diamond Motors Phils. and The Turf Company-Texas Eagle and major sponsors Mega Fibre, Bedarra Holdings, Inc., Golfworx, GC&A Club Shares, Natures Spring, Peter Paul, Pacsports Phils., Seamecor, Inc., Peerless Manufacturing, Inc-Champion detergent, Coca Cola and Lipovitan.

Other daily winners (low net) at both courses were Rudy Fulo-Jose Ma. Castaneda (79), Rudy Verano-Jeremy Parulan (77), Ramon Regala-Chito Melo (86), Leana Carmona-Malu Gamboa (85), Rolando Viray-JR Brillantes (79), Jake Corporal-Roneil Cousart (78), Toshikatsu Oka-Yuji Tokunaga (79) and Yoshi Ohata-Hideaki Yoshida (78).

Rupert Zaragosa and JR Gonzales copped the low gross honors with a 277 while Jose Mari Hechanova (144) and Gab Manotoc (146) led the individual winners, who included Yasuhito Yazawa (129) and Jeffrey Ocampo (130).
