Gadi, Castilo rule Badminton Open

MANILA, Philippines - Antonino Gadi and Gelita Castilo showed their impressive form in their respective divisions to rule the open singles of the seventh Prima Pasta Badminton Championship recently at the Powersmash badminton courts in Makati.

 Gadi banked on his strong backhand and serves to outlast rising star Rabbie Jason Oba-ob of Team Prima, 21-19, 21-9, and take home the men’s singles open crown of the annual competition organized by Alexander Lim.

 Ateneo’s Gelita Castilo played true to form to rout Asifa Farisima of Team Prima in the women’s singles, 21-7, 21-15.

The event was supported by the MVP Sports Foundation and SMART Communications.

 In the mixed doubles open finals, Peter Gabriel Magnaye and Aires Amor Montilla of team Philippines whipped fellow Christian Bernardo and Joella De Vera, 21-14, 21-11, for the crown.

 Other mixed doubles champions were Wilfredo Amoroso and Deska Calimlim of Meralco (Level A); Roberto Pineda and Pauline Tan (Level B); Joed Reyes and Chen Ann (Level C); John Matthew Bernardo and Chanelle Lunod (Level D);  Mel De Lima and Kate Pepito (Level E); Bio Marquez and Meanne Chen (level F); and Arca Ranillo and Jessica Narce (level G).
