“This is our commitment to our constituents in organizing a tournament that will showcase Quezon’s basketball talents and promoting our advocacy of a healthy lifestyle,” said Suarez, who was scheduled to meet with the participating teams and league officials today.

Suarez said the event also hopes to boost basketball standards in the province “so that our players may one day be able to play for flag and country in international events.”

Quezon provincial sports coordinator Jonas Guiao among those taking part in the event jointly organized with Evangelista Sports Management and sponsored by Alaxan and Unilab, are the BJMP, Eduvigiz Resto, CEFI Cougars, PNP Quezon,  Dada & Nene Restaurant, Buenavista Miners, Sevillas Catering Farm and Resorts and Lucban “Pahiyas.”

To be taken up in today’s meeting will be the tournament rules and guidelines plus other matters “to make the event more exciting and competitive,” he said.

According to Darren Evangelista, Evangelista Sports Management chief, ushering in the Gov. Suarez Basketball Cup will be a festive motorcade starting at the St. Ferdinand Cathedral and ending at Quezon Convention Center.
