Krav Maga International cites IKMF-Phl

MANILA, Philippines - The local Krav Maga, a non-competitive self-defense system developed in Israel that involves striking techniques, wrestling and grappling, has drawn good raves following the recent visit of Avi Moyal, chairman of the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF).

Moyal was in town recently and gave very high marks to the training capability of its local office, IKMF-Philippines.

In fact, Moyal granted Dindo De Jesus, country director and chief instructor of IKMF-Philippines, the rank of Graduate Level 4, which makes him the highest-ranking Krav Maga instructor in Southeast Asia.

Founded and developed by Imi Sde-Or for the Israeli defense forces in the 1950s, Krav Maga is considered the most effective fighting and self-defense system in the world.

“Our vision is very simple – so that man may walk in peace. Meaning, letting your child walk in peace to school, letting your wife coming back home at night safe, adults protecting themselves, etc. As I see it, everybody can find something for themselves in Krav Maga. In the future, it will be taught in universities,” said Moyal.

He said Krav Maga is not a martial art but can complement any martial art already practiced by one interested in the defense system.

Moyal was born in 1966 and has been studying Krav Maga since childhood under the direct training from its founders. Moyal has been teaching Krav Maga for the past 30 years.

He was also an officer with the Israeli Defense Force-Marines. He acquired many combat hours and experience while commanding subordinates on special operations in Lebanon including highly specialized missions behind enemy lines with various SWAT units.
