Dominic rules badminton in Mayor Lim fest

MANILA, Philippines - St. Dominic Savio College scored a sweep of both the men’s singles and doubles to rule the badminton competition recently in the SM/RCBC Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim Summer Mini-Olympics at the St. Vincent’s College gym in Quezon City.

Nico Valdez led St. Dominic’s title drive after disposing of Patrick Nikolai Cabigas of PWU-JASMS in the boys singles finals, 20-19.

Valdez then teamed up with Jehhas Alejandro in the boys doubles finals to turn back PWU-JASM’s Cabigas and partner Rajah Ladip, 31-30, for St. Dominic’s second title in the tournament organized by Fusion Adverstising and the Manila Inter-Commercial Athletic Association headed by its chairman Philip Sio and president Roland Sl Lim in cooperation with Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, the Manila Sports Council and 1st District Councilor Niño dela Cruz.

St. Anthony Academy settled for third place.

John Tan, representing Manila Sports Council chairman Pau and Edward Almario graced the opening ceremony of the tournament which kicked off the month-long event backed by SM, RCBC, SGV Foundation, Petron, Suntrust, ICTS, Summit Mineral Water, 100 Plus, Cobra Enerlgy Drink, Manila Bulletin and The Philippine Star.
