Cebu stages Jr NBA regional elims camp

MANILA, Philippines - The Jr. NBA regional selection camp will be held in Cebu tomorrow with over 300 kids expected to participate in the Jr. NBA Philippines Program at the Sacred Heart Academy gym in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Presented by Hi-Smart Multivitamins, the event is open to boys aged 12-14 and will start at 9 a.m. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis with the camp to be handled by Boy Cabahug and Al Solis and Jr. NBA appointed coach Ronnie Magsanoc.

Participants will join the skills, aptitude and endurance challenges at the training camp designed to introduce youngsters to basketball fundamentals, competitive games, S.T.A.R. (Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect) values.

Participants will have their height and weight measured and will undergo shooting skills challenges, dribbling and passing drills, endurance tests, fitness and agility tests.

The top 10 campers will be chosen in Cebu and will qualify for the Jr. NBA National Training Camp slated April 16-18 at the Jose Rizal U gym in Mandaluyong City.

Ten campers will be chosen from Davao on March 14 and 20; more will be selected in Manila and Luzon on March 21.

The best eight campers in the National Training Camp will be proclaimed the Jr. NBA Philippines Team and will be rewarded with an authentic NBA experience in October.
