Singapore-bound bets vie in youth shootfest

MANILA, Philippines - Singapore-bound shooters will see action in the second PNSA-NYDP/Spring Cooking Oil national youth shooting championships starting tomorrow at the newly refurbished 10-meter range inside the Marine Barracks in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Shanin Gonzales, Charmaine Trajano, Mark Manosca, Dianne Nicole Eufemio, Carina dela Victoria, Jayson Valdez and Allen Pinlac head the cast of shooters vying in the event with Gonzales and Trajano set to compete in women’s air pistol, Manosca in men’s air pistol, Eufemio and Dela Victoria in women’s air rifle and Valdez and Pinlac in men’s air rifle.

“The tournament will serve as their final preparation for the Asian Youth Games set to start June 25 in Singapore,” said reigning national pistol champion Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla, also PNSA vice president and NYDP (National Youth Development Program) chair.

Philippine Sports Commission chairman Harry Angping and PNSA president Art Macapagal will also grace the two-day event ending Sunday.

Other events are air rifle men and women mixed, air pistol men and women mixed, air rifle men and women (bench rest), air pistol men and women (bench rest) and air rifle men and women (without jacket).

The event is sponsored by Spring Cooking Oil and supported by Thermax Ltd., 15B Match Diabolo, Dental First, A.Venue Hotel, Bio Essence, Club Balai Isabel and Cherry Mobile.
