Works on Samar road projects start in Oct.

GUIUAN, EASTERN SAMAR, Philippines — Civil works for the 65.2-kilometer road from San Julian/Sulat Municipal Boundary to Balangkayan/Llorente Municipal Boundary in Eastern Samar province will begin in October.

Later on, civil works will begin in the 16.35-kilometer road from Buray (Wright) Junction to Tinani, in western Samar province.

According to the Millennium Challenge Account-Philippines (MCA-P), these two contract packages are part of the 224-kilometer road network that will be rehabilitated under the Secondary National Roads Development Project (SNRDP), as funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

MCA-P managing director and CEO Marivic Añonuevo assured the public, especially the people of Samar island, that biddings for the various civil works contracts under SNRDP are conducted in an open, fair, competitive, and transparent process through an independent procurement agency.

“We strictly follow the MCC’s procurement guidelines and we will make sure that everything is above board, in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations,” she said. “We cannot afford to fail in this project. Thus, we are making sure that we are doing it correctly, transparently and on time.”
