Governor Degamo marks 1st 100 days in Capitol

- Syril G. Repe -

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines - About 70 projects, amounting to P46 million, have been underway, some of which are continuation of the programs of his predecessors, according to Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo who marked his first 100 days in office.

Degamo disclosed to the local media his accomplishments as governor since he assumed office last January 5, succeeding Governors Agustin Perdices and Emilio Macias II who died during their terms.

The governor launched last March 31 the "Sa Probinsya, MagDEGAMO Ta!" program, which he said is the centerpiece of the provincial government's program HELP (Health, Education, Livelihood Programs and projects for peace and development).

Degamo said several projects that are going on are the construction of 29 additional classrooms, upgrading of six community primary hospitals, and construction of support infrastructures for local tourist spots, among others.

Sports development in the province is also part of his administration's programs, said Degamo as he called on the people for support by giving him their suggestions.

"I do not pretend to know everything so that is the reason why I am always willing to listen and learn based on the ideas of others, especially if they support or enhance the provincial leadership's vision of a more develop and progressive Negros Oriental" he said.

"As your governor, I want to see all of you live a healthy, peaceful and happy life," Degamo said. (FREEMAN)
