Women's crown isinubi ng St. Clare College

MANILA, Philippines - Pinayukod ng St. Clare College-Ca­loocan ang Assumption College of Davao, 79-43, para makopo ang women’s title, habang tinalo ng Sacred Heart of Montessori ang University of Sto. Tomas, 88-78, sa men’s side sa SBP National Under-16 sa Cordillera Career Development College.

Kahit na matalo ang Lady Saints sa St. Louis University, makukuha pa rin ng St. Clare, pagma-may-ari ni Dr. Jay Adalem, ang korona pati na ang P20,000 donasyon mula kay SBP president Manny V. Pangi­linan, nagbigay rin ng P30,000 para sa men’s champion.

“Mr. Pangilinan called me after Talk ‘N Text beat Powerade in Game 2 that he will give cash donations to the men and women champions,” wika ni SBP deputy executive director Bernie Atienza.

Naglaro ng walong players, nakontrol pa rin ng Caloocan-based St. Clare Lady drib­blers ang laro para mapreserba ang kanilang 3-0 record sa five-team women division.

Nagtala ang mga Sacred Heart dribblers ng 18 points laban sa Growling Tigers upang pangunahan ang Group B sa bisa ng kanilang 4-0 card at kunin ang isang semifinal berth.

Mula sa kanilang 3-1 baraha, umabante rin sa semis ang UST kagaya ng Claret School na tumalo sa Sacred Heart of Jesus sa pamamagitan ng ‘winner over the other’ rule matapos ilista ang 85-77 tagumpay sa elimination.

Inungusan naman ng International School for Better Beginnings ang St. Brid­get College, 59-57, at tinalo ng La Union College of Nursing and Arts ang St. Clare, 77-61, sa men’s division.

 Pinayukod naman ng Jose de Venecia Sr. Memorial National High School ang St. Louis University, 63-55, sa women’ bracket.
