Art in the Park & Art after Dark

MANILA, Philippines - The event eagerly anticipated by art lovers, enthusiasts and collectors is back on Saturday, March 14 at the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Makati. Art in the Park is the annual art fair organized by the Museum Foundation of the Philippines in cooperation with Barangay Bel-Air and Security Bank MasterCard that transforms a section of the park into an outdoor museum from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Galleries, independent art spaces and art groups come together allowing market goers and art aficionados buy paintings, photographs, pieces of sculpture and fine art prints pegged at a maximum of P20,000.

Art in the Park favorites Ang Illustrador ng Kabataan, Art Informal, Blanc Art Space, FEATI University, Galleria de las Islas, Galerie Astra, Nineveh Art Space, Philippine Association of Printmakers, Ral Arrogante, UP College of Fine Arts, Sheer Joy, Canvas 1/of, FEU, TUP, Kaida Gallery, the Zone Five Camera Club, Art Wednesday, Kulay Art Group, Tin Aw Art and Neo Angono Artists Collective will be joined by a new set of participants including Tala Gallery and Cubicle Gallery.

The art experience continues into the evening with Art After Dark from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Seven curated art spaces will rise up where the gallery booths were in the day. Avellana Art Gallery, Tutok, Putik, Silverlens Gallery, Art Cabinet Philippines, Bea Camacho and Joel Alonday each creating site specific displays and installations that visitors can walk in to, interact with and enjoy. Children’s book illustrators, Ang Illustrador ng Kabataan and Sheer Joy team up to create a space specially for our young guests. With Jazz music played throughout the evening and a wine, paella and bar chow cash bar by the Spanish restaurant Terry’s Selection, Windows Café and Rene Barbier Wines, Art After Dark promises to nourish all senses.

Proceeds from the sales will be used to support the projects of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines and the National Musuem. Committee members from the foundation include Yael Buencamino, Trickie Lopa, Lisa Periquet, Tricia Limon, Mailin Locsin, Mel Francisco and Rhona Macasaet.
