President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night owned and defended the reinstatement of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 8 police chief Superintendent Marvin Marcos despite his possible liability in the killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. inside a provincial jail.

The president, however, refused to divulge details behind his decision.

On December 2, the National Bureau of Investigation filed cases against Marcos and his team before the Department of Justice for multiple murder and perjury charges in the killing of Espinosa.
