MANILA, Philippines  — Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who has announced her intent to run for president in 2016, vowed to have a strong anti-corruption campaign once elected.

In this speech at the University of the Philippines in October, the constitutional expert said she has survived cancer and will again compete for the top government post.

"Do you want a clean government? Do you want a courageous government? Do you want a government of, by and for academic excellence?" Santiago said, who is answered by a resounding "yes" by her supporters.
