Banat Opinyon

Pagpataas sa kinabuhi

SENIOR CITIZEN - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Matud ni Ana Marie Pamintuan sa The Philippine Star, “It is said that Christmas is for children, and the young at heart. What about the not-so-young, and the dual citizens (Filipino and seniors)?”

Padayon: “Aging, of course, is on adult minds not just during this season of joy. It is of special concern for people like me who are caring for loved ones suffering from cognitive decline.”

Unsa man kining cognitive decline? Tubag gikan sa internet: “Subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD) is the self-reported experience of worsening or more frequent confusion or memory loss. It is a form of cognitive impairment and one of the earliest noticeable symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.”

Duha ka timailhan sa cognitive decline: 1. “Memory loss that disrupts daily life: forgetting events, repeating yourself or relying on more aids to help you remember (like sticky notes or reminders). 2. Challenges in planning or solving problems: having trouble paying bills or cooking recipes you have used for years.”

What is the best treatment for cognitive decline? Tubag: “Studies have shown that playing games, playing an instrument, reading books and other activities may help preserve brain function. Being social may make life more satisfying, help preserve mental function and slow mental decline. Memory training and other cognitive training may help improve your function.”

So, ma-treated diay ang cognitive decline. Sumala sa gisugid sa itaas, just keep yourself busy, aron dili matay-an ang imong utok.

Mitambong si Ana Marie sa paglusad sa ‘longevity program’ nga gipasiugdahan sa Wellness and Aesthetics Institute of The Medical City sa Ortigas, Pasig. Unsa man ni? “It is a program that seeks to redefine aging by focusing on cellular health, offering individuals the tools they need to navigate their habits and lifestyle for a better and longer health span.”

“The program starts with biological age testing, to determine how fast or slowly your cells are aging.”

Matud pa, +“humans are living longer; the average lifespan in Japan, for example, is now 87 years.”

“What good is living to the ripe old age of 100 if you can no longer take a shower by yourself, follow movie plots or even remember how many children you have?"
