Biden expected to win in most of the battleground states

WHAT MATTERS MOST - Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez - The Freeman

Barring any dirty tricks from the camp of the incumbent, all national polls point to an inevitable Joe Biden win over Donald Trump by a comfortable lead of 52% over the president's mere 43%. This is not pure prophecy but a summary of scientific surveys conducted by all reputable institutions.

There are 10 battleground states and Biden is poised to win in six of them, Trump in three and one is too close to call, because the two candidates are currently locked in a virtual tie. The six crucial states where Biden is leading with comfortable margins are Arizona by a ratio of 50% to Trump's 46%; Florida with Biden having 50% compared to Trump's 47%; Georgia, where Biden is leading with a precarious 49% vis-a-vis Trump's 47%; Michigan with a cozy 51% for the challenger and 42% for the incumbent; Nevada, with an almost sure win of 50% over Trump's 46%; and North Carolina with surveys showing Biden with 51% over Trump's 46%.

Trump, however, is leading in Ohio with 49% but Biden is not far behind with more than 47%. In Texas Biden has only 46% but his state leaders are pushing hard to narrow the lead of Trump at 49%. In Wisconsin, Trump is leading at 50% over Biden's 42%. Iowa is too close to call. The two bets are virtually tied at 47%. Trump is sure to win too in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas (paging Bill Clinton, what happened to your old bailiwick?), Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and North Dakota. The incumbent has also a comfortable lead in Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

But President Trump's leads in all those states will be demolished by Biden's supremacy in the bigger states of California with 55 electoral votes and New York with 29. In addition, Biden enjoys strong support and is sure to win in Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia (this is the home of President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat giant), and also Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan and Minnesota. Joe Biden will also win in Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and the northwestern state of Washington. Joe Biden's lead in the capital city of Washington D.C. is a whopping 96% to Trump's only 4%. Hawaii, with the Filipinos as the second largest ethnic bloc, Biden is going to lead Trump at 70% over Trump's only 28%.

Before the end of October, some 90 million voters have already cast their votes, out of which two thirds were by mail, and the rest by personal appearances in states that allowed advance voting. The exit interviews indicated a major surge of Democratic voters who were very enthusiastic in having their voices heard through the ballot. Biden's main bulk of supporters come from the working class, the young professionals and retirees who are exasperated by how Trump is dividing the Americans, the women bloc who hate Trump's anti-women stance and pronouncements. The African American voters are galvanized by the passionate campaign of president Obama and driven by the Black Lives Matter advocacies. The Latinos are divided but most of them do remember that Trump called them bad names like rapists and drug couriers across the southern borders.

The Asians join the African-Americans in rallying behind Joe Biden. The Filipinos like the values of Biden, for family, for the nation, and for God. Joe Biden is a practicing Catholic. He will be the second Catholic US president, after John F. Kennedy, to lead the strongest nation in the whole world.
