Kasambahay Bill still not a law

THE EAR - The Freeman

KASAMBAHAY BILL. President Aquino has not yet signed the Kasambahay Bill, a measure giving a lot of benefits to domestic helpers. “He seems reluctant to sign it,” said an observer. Other observers say many domestic helpers at home may lose their job if the Kasambahay Bill becomes a law.

EXPENSIVE. The same observers say the ordinary family could not anymore afford to have household helpers because it would be too expensive to do so. Aside from the increased salary, the DH must be made members of the SSS, Pag-ibig, PhilHealth, etc. “And the employers have to pay their share in the membership fees of their helpers,” the observers further say.
