The boxers’ faith

HIGHLIGHT. This is just a highlight to the boxing fates or fortunes of Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez who figured in that fight between the two in Las Vegas. Religion is involved here, take it or leave it.

THE REASONS. While here in the Philippines many Filipinos blame Pacquiao’s loss to his change of religion from Catholic to Born-Again Christian, in Mexico it’s Marquez being a devout Catholic that Mexicans attribute his victory.

REPORTS. Reports say that while Pacquiao attended a protestant bible service on the day of the fight, Marquez prayed to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of Mexico.
