Needing our attention and care

“It is not yet officially summer but the temperature is already 34 degrees,” a Japanese colleague shared. Premature high temperatures in Tokyo, strong winds and floods in Japan’s south, climate change is making its very obvious presence here as elsewhere in the world.

Japan has to bear a very hot humid summer amidst a continuing problem of energy supply. The 3/11 event caused much problems and anxieties about radiation from the Fukushima nuclear reactor plants affected by the strong, devastating and deadly earthquake and tsunami. The radiation spread not only to many parts in Japan, there was also the real threat of the nuclear explosion and radiation affecting many other parts of the world, including and beyond Japan.

The Japanese Government has revived their decision and policy to reactivate and open nuclear plants soon. Given the deaths, the threats, real damage and danger experienced during the 3/11 event, protesters have staged rallies vs. nuclear power use in Japan. The last rally gathered about 170,000 protesters and their numbers are mounting. The protest may grow globally since any nuclear plant disaster in any part of the world is bound to seriously have global implications for all nations and people in this very tightly inter-connected world!!

As the rest of the world proceeds to cope with various types of challenges from natural and/ or human causes, the parents of dear Baby Maven are appealing for your generous and kind prayers and donations to save their child.

According to their blog: http://baktincorporation.blogspot.com/2012/05/mavens-heart-fund.html, Baby Maven is “diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect which is the most common cause of blue baby syndrome.” He is very sick that is why he needs an open heart surgery at the soonest time possible. The complicated medical procedure comes with a high cost though.

For those interested to share for Baby Maven’s Heart Fund, these suggestions from their blog please:

“Please give sacrificially to the Maven’s Heart Fund.

“Please recommend this blog entry in your social networking sites so that many more could know about Maven’ story: http://www.mavensheartfund.org/

Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MavensHeartFund,  and Twitter @mavensheartfund or please contact Hannah (+639228232782) or Boboy (+639228272382) Amora.”

“Please pray for Maven’s successful operation and recuperation. The doctors and medicine can only do so much, but we have to trust that our good Lord will take it from here, even before the actual surgery.”

“The Wikipedia entry on Tetralogy of Fallot states that ‘patients who have undergone total surgical repair have improved hemodynamics and often have good to excellent cardiac function.’ This could be one reason why Shaun White, the champion snowboarder who had a cameo in the movie Friends with Benefits, has been reaping one Olympic medal after the other… When Maven reaches the right age, he could probably engage in extreme sports or star in a film someday. The possibilities are endless. But at this point in time, Maven has to fight a battle. Thankfully, he doesn’t have to fight this one on his own (with all your generous prayers and assistance).”

Maven is scheduled to have an operation in Manila on the 25h of July.

Finally, on a more positive note, you may also be interested to join this event, WALK ‘n WHEELS  this Saturday, July 21, from 5:30 to 8 am to start at Plaza Sugbu and ending at Plaza Independencia.

This event, kindly posted and shared by Mr. Rudy Alix with Tom Escano and 21 others, wishes to call attention to all to accept and provide accessible environments for PWDs (people with disabilities) and make Cebu livable for everyone! There are already 70 PWDs joining and there is a call for MORE WHEELCHAIR PUSHERS - “There’s a big reward for doing this, but it won’t be given on planet earth!”.

Won’t you share your time and “walk with them to show them that you, that we all care?”  Please wear white T-shirts if you join please!!!
