MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has belied online reports about a 100-percent increase in vehicle registration fees amid soaring fuel prices.

“That is not true. The LTO continues to strive to make its services more affordable, especially in the current economic crisis facing our country,” the LTO said. “There are no sudden or unannounced rate increases.”

The public can visit the LTO’s website, social media pages or authorized district offices and extension centers for information about fees and services, the agency said.

“We encourage everyone not to spread or believe unverified news,” the LTO said. “Let’s be responsible in sharing information. Check the facts first before spreading it online.”
