MANILA, Philippines — A man facing estafa charges was killed after trying to escape police, only to be run over by a bus along Domestic Road in Pasay yesterday.

According to the Highway Patrol Group, HPG operatives flagged down Ricson Timosan along Andrews Avenue at 5 a.m. for using an improvised license plate.

On verification, police found that Timosan had three warrants of arrest issued by a regional trial court in Zamboanga City for estafa in 2024, prompting them to arrest the 48-year-old suspect.

While preparing his transport to Camp Crame, Timosan “opened the HPG office’s front door, escaped and ran along Domestic Road.”

A police report said that while being chased, Timosan fell on the road and got hit by the left front wheel of a tourist bus.

Timosan was rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The bus driver fled the scene but later surrendered. Authorities are preparing a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against him.
