MANILA, Philippines — Three Chinese men who allegedly kidnapped a Malaysian national were arrested in Parañaque City yesterday.
Li Xue Chang, 34, Huang Guanghong, 27, and Wang Yefu, 24, were apprehended in Barangay Tambo at around 5:30 a.m., National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. told reporters in a message on Viber.
The victim, a 42-year-old Malaysian man, was rescued in an entrapment operation staged in front of a building along Macapagal Boulevard.
Nartatez said the operation was carried out after a friend of the victim reported to the police that he was kidnapped on Sunday.
The victim’s friend said he received messages on Telegram from the suspects who demanded ransom money in exchange for the victim’s freedom.
The suspects also sent photographs of the victim showing he was tortured.
Acting on the information, police conducted an entrapment, which led to the suspects’ arrest and rescue of the victim.
