ASF-hit Central Luzon hog raisers get P104.5 million aid
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — Farmers in Central Luzon whose hogs were affected by African swine fever (ASF) have received financial assistance worth P104.5 million from the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Nineteen commercial swine farms whose farmers are members of the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. in Bulacan, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija received P5.5 million each, the DA regional office announced yesterday.
The DA said the money can be used to procure animal stocks, feeds, drugs and biologics, among others.
The monetary assistance is part of the DA’s Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion program.
The program focuses on calibrated hog repopulation to improve swine production and ensure the sufficiency of hogs and pork products affected by ASF.
