Cop arrested, relieved for beating up partner
MANILA, Philippines — A policeman was arrested after he was caught on video that has gone viral beating up his partner in Kidapawan City on Monday.
Cpl. Louie Jay Lumancas was relieved from his post at the Magpet police station in North Cotabato.
Lumancas was seen punching and kicking his partner during a birthday party. He also hit the woman several times on the head with his knees and pointed a gun at her.
Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Soccksargen police director, said Lumancas reportedly got angry after the victim confronted him when she found out that he was married.
Macaraeg ordered the Kidapawan police to expedite its investigation into the incident.
“I will not tolerate as I abhor any maltreatment or abuse of a family member especially when committed by a police officer,” Macaraeg said. – Emmanuel Tupas
