CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A former member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Nueva Ecija was shot dead at his residence in Barangay San Nicolas in Gapan City on Wednesday night.
Belated reports identified the fatality as Zaldy Matias, 65.
The victim served as Nueva Ecija board member from the fourth district of the province from 2007 to 2010.
Probers said Matias was sitting in front of his house when unidentified men arrived and shot him several times.
He was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
The motive for the killing has yet to be determined.
