Ombudsman employee shot by robber
MANILA, Philippines — An employee of the Office of the Ombudsman was wounded after being shot by a robber in Quezon City yesterday.
Diane Jane Paguirigan, 37, who works as an administrative aide at the ombudsman, was walking at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Cordillera street in Barangay Doña Josefa when she was attacked at around 8:20 a.m.
Witnesses said a man on a motorcycle tried to grab the victim’s bag, but she resisted.
The suspect then pulled out a handgun and fired at Paguirigan.
A rescue team from Montalban, Rizal who was passing through the area in an ambulance brought Paguirigan to the Capitol Medical Center where she is in stable condition.
Probers recovered two bullet casings and a deformed bullet at the scene.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who was clad in a black jacket, blue jeans and a black helmet, according to witnesses.
