Valenzuela gives gifts to 63,246 seniors

MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela City government has distributed Christmas gift packs to over 63,000 senior citizens, according to Mayor Wes Gatchalian.

He said 63,246 elderly beneficiaries were given gifts in the barangays of Wawang Pulo, Balangkas, Poblacion, Pulo, Pariancillo Villa, Palasan, Isla, Bisig, Mabolo, Tagalag, Arkong Bato, Coloong, Dalandanan, Rincon and Malinta.

The gift packs contained two kilos of rice, canned goods, spaghetti bundle and fruit salad packages.

Gatchalian said the gift-giving activity was a way of recognizing the contributions of senior citizens in the city.

As early as July, the local government distributed five kilos of rice to 61,000 elderly as part of their mid-year Christmas gift from city hall.
