P7.4 million shabu seized in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines — Shabu with an estimated street value of P7.4 million was seized in separate anti-drug operations that resulted in the arrest of two suspects in Cebu City on Saturday night.

Ezrard Plando, 36, was collared in a sting in Barangay Tejero at around 6 p.m., according to a report from the Central Visayas police.

Plando reportedly yielded 1.02 kilos of shabu valued at 6.9 million.

The illegal drugs were reportedly contained in Chinese tea bags, probers said.

The second suspect, identified as John Albert Maglasang, 20, reportedly yielded 80 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P544,000.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.

Meanwhile, in Cagayan de Oro City, an Army corporal was arrested for allegedly selling firearms and explosives yesterday.

Cpl. Gilbert Roja was collared after he allegedly sold a rifle, pistol, grenades and ammunition to an undercover agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
