LRT-2 stops free rides for students

MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will end its “libreng sakay” program for students on Saturday.

Students can avail themselves of 20 percent discount on train rides, according to state-owned LRT-2 operator Light Rail Transit Authority.

The management implemented the free rides on Aug. 22.

A total of 1,527,291 students benefited from the free ride policy.
