Ex-policewoman nabbed in Camarines Sur sting

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A former police police officer was arrested in a sting in Bato, Camarines Sur on Friday.

Dismissed police corporal Richelle Mata was collared in Barangay San Rafael after she allegedly sold shabu to undercover agents of the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG).

Authorities said Mata is included in the drug list of the Camarines Sur police.

In 2019, the suspect tested positive in a surprise drug test conducted on all PNP personnel.

“She went absent without official leave and was dismissed from the service,” the PNP-IMEG said.

Seized from Mata were three plastic sachets believed to contain shabu with an estimated street value of P88,400.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against Mata, according to the PNP-IMEG.
