Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Two boys were apprehended after they allegedly stabbed a minor in Quezon City on Wednesday.

The victim, a 14-year-old boy, was standing in front of a school in Barangay Bungad when the suspects attacked him at around 7:15 p.m., according to Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

For unknown reasons, the suspects – aged 13 and 15 – punched the victim. One of them hit the boy on the head with a baseball bat. The other then took out a knife and stabbed the victim.

The victim’s sister, who was present at the scene, shouted for assistance from barangay public safety officers (BPSOs), who brought him to the Quezon City General Hospital for treatment.

The suspects were arrested in a follow-up operation and were identified by the victim as the same people who assaulted him. Police turned over the suspects to the city’s social welfare and development office.

Mayor Joy Belmonte lauded the BPSOs and the police for their prompt response.
