Guard killed in Nueva Ecija road rage

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines — A security guard was shot dead after engaging in a traffic altercation with a son of a barangay councilman in Jaen, Nueva Ecija on Saturday night.

Reports reaching Col. Jess Mendez, acting Nueva Ecija police director, identified the victim as Teofilo Gavino and the suspect as David Martin, a councilman of Barangay Imbunia.

Investigation showed that Gavino was in a Gray Honda Jazz when he figured in a quarrel with the suspect’s son.

Upon learning of the incident, David reportedly went after Gavino and shot him several times.

Gavino was declared dead on arrival at the Cabanatuan Doctors Hospital.

David fled after the incident.
