TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — Two employees of the city environment and natural resources office (CENRO) of Borongan City were arrested for illegal logging in Sitio Da-o, Barangay 07 in Giporlos, Eastern Samar on Wednesday.
The Giporlos police said Mahnel Ferreras, 41, and Leo Agaro, 42, failed to present the necessary documents to transport 110 pieces of lumber in two trucks.
The three companions of the suspects managed to escape. The trucks, which contained the cut logs, were seized.
Charges for violation of the Revised Forestry Code are being readied against the arrested suspects
