2 rob suspects slain in ‘shootout’

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao, Philippines — Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged shootout with law enforcers in Barangay Awang in this town on Tuesday night.

Miguel Villadar and Jonathan Solaiman, both residents of Barangay Labungan, drew their guns when cornered by pursuing lawmen, according to personnel of the local police and First Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Col. Christopher Panapan, Maguindanao police director, said the operation was launched after an off-duty security guard reported that he was victimized by the suspects in Purok Fatima in Barangay Tamontaka on the same day.

The two were tagged in robberies in the town in recent weeks.
