2 slain in Quezon gunfight

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two persons were killed while another was wounded in a gunfight in Candelaria, Quezon on Friday.

Lt. Col. Arnulfo Selencio, Candelaria police chief, identified the fatalities as Roel Macasaet, a returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW), and Dennis Patulot.

Macasaet’s wife Lucia was hit by a stray bullet and brought to the Peter Paul Medical Center for treatment.

Initial investigation showed Patulot and former village watchman Nelson Villamin went to the house of Macasaet in Barangay Masia Norte.

Patulot reportedly shot Macasaet following a heated argument.

Although wounded, Macasaet shot Patulot using a caliber .45 pistol. Villamin escaped.

An investigation is underway.
