Go visits Manila fire victims
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited on Wednesday residents of Manila who were affected by a recent fire.
The senator and his staff handed out grocery packs, masks, vitamins and meals to 225 families at the Baseco Compound in Port Area.
Go also provided new shoes, bicycles and computer tablets to select individuals. He also gave out wheelchairs, crutches and walking canes to those with walking impediments.
A team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided financial assistance to each affected family while the Department of Health distributed vitamins and assorted medicines.
The Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Philippine Fisheries Development Authority teamed up and provided the fire victims with fresh vegetables and fish as well as cans of sardines.
The National Housing Authority assessed the families’ needs and extended the necessary housing assistance.
The Department of Trade and Industry evaluated potential beneficiaries for its livelihood program.
