Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Members of the Villafuerte clan are likely to win in their bids in the May elections, according to a recent Pulse Asia survey.

The survey conducted among 1,800 respondents from Jan. 12 to 17 showed Rep. LRay Villafuerte and his sons Luigi LRV and Migz dominating their rivals.

Villafuerte garnered 87 percent of the votes as against the nine percent of his opponent Ronnie Abasola.

Luigi LRV obtained 59 percent of the votes in the gubernatorial race.

Former budget secretary Rolando Andaya Jr. got only 35 percent of the votes while Vice Gov. Imelda Papin obtained four percent.

The two other candidates for governor – Ireneo Bongat Jr. and businessman Richard Cabal – got 0.5 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.

The survey also showed that Migz is leading in the congressional race in the fifth district against Iriga Mayor Madelaine Alfelor-Gazmen.

Pulse Asia predicted a voter turnout of 84 percent or 814,713 of the 967,757 who registered in the province.

Using the list of 217,470 registered voters in the second district, LRay is expected to get 158,926 votes from 182,674 seen to participate in the elections as against the 16,440 votes for Abasola.
