Active COVID-19 cases in PNP down to 28
MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police (PNP) is down to 28.
In a report released yesterday, the PNP said three more personnel have contracted the virus while three have recovered. The death toll remains at 125.
The number of cases is lower by 99.12 percent compared to its peak of 3,216 last Sept. 17.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos urged police personnel to remain vigilant even with the decline in infections.
“This apparent improving trend should not be a cause for complacency among our personnel because according to health experts the Philippines is not yet out of the woods,” he said.
Carlos said the PNP’s COVID-19 vaccination drive is in full swing as 214,012 or 94.87 percent of the 225,592-member police force are fully vaccinated.
At least 10,111 are waiting for their second dose while 1,469 remain unvaccinated.
Carlos said PNP personnel who refuse to be inoculated would be transferred to low-risk duties to protect them from the virus.
