Cop held for drugs

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — For allegedly selling shabu with an estimated street value of P500, a police corporal was arrested by his fellow officers in this city on Saturday.

Cpl. Jomar Chio of the Sultan Kudarat town police in Maguindanao was arrested by a joint team of the Cotabato City and Sultan Kudarat municipal police along Gov. Gutierrez Avenue at around 4 p.m., according to Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, Bangsamoro police director.

“Aside from a criminal case that will be filed against him, Chio will also be facing an administrative case, which may result in his dismissal from the Philippine National Police,” Ugale said.

She said the suspect would be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
