Zero COVID-19 cases among Subic Freeport residents, workers
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines — There is no active case of COVID-19 among residents, transient workers and employees at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
“For the first time since July last year when Subic Freeport recorded its first cases, we can all breathe that much-needed sigh of relief,” Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman Wilma Eisma said.
Five SBMA residents and three employees who were found infected from Oct. 18 to 21 have been declared recovered by the SBMA public health and safety department.
Eisma said there is no reason to relax their guard against the virus despite recording zero COVID cases.
“Remember that we are easing restrictions not because COVID-19 is gone, but because we have to sustain the economy, which has been badly affected by the pandemic,” she said.
Eisma said 93 percent of the 2,237 SBMA employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
