OVP brings jab drive to Pasig
MANILA, Philippines — Some 4,000 members of the vulnerable and indigent population will be inoculated against COVID-19 this weekend in Pasig through the Vaccine Express initiative of the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo.
Robredo and Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto personally visited the site at Manggahan High School yesterday morning to check the vaccination process and thank the doctors, nurses and medical students who volunteered for the initiative.
The OVP provided logistical support in the deployment of the vaccines from the local government, including the provision of post-vaccination care kits to those who were inoculated.
“This is not our first program here in Pasig. Before the pandemic last year, Pasig City was one of our first partners for our community mart… We also established a community learning hub here for our students,” Robredo said in Filipino.
“We had a good experience (working with) Pasig,” she added.
While their office does not have access to the vaccine supply, Robredo said their initiative helps local government units speed up the deployment by providing support such as volunteer vaccinators.
Earlier this month, over 3,100 public transport drivers and delivery riders were vaccinated during a similar initiative in Quezon City.
