Makati suspends A4 vaccination

MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Makati has suspended the immunization of essential workers or those belonging to the A4 category due to limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines.

In an advisory yesterday, Mayor Abby Binay said they would stop giving first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to economic frontliners.

Binay said the local government would also close the vaccination sites at Glorietta 2, San Lorenzo Place, Ayala Malls Circuit, Benigno Aquino National High School and Palanan Elementary School.

Meanwhile, Muntinlupa will no longer allow walk-ins due to limited vaccine supply.

Only residents who registered with the city government’s vaccination website and received their schedules through text message would be accommodated.

Meanwhile, the cities of Navotas and Valenzuela led local government units in Metro Manila with the most number of administered COVID-19 vaccines.

Valenzuela has a utilization rate of 92.42 percent followed by Navotas with 88.22 percent, according to the Department of Health.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian thanked his constituents for participating in the vaccination drive to achieve herd immunity.

Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco urged his constituents to continue to wear face masks to protect themselves against the more infectious COVID-19 variants.

Valenzuela and Navotas are still waiting for more vaccines to continue the inoculation of economic frontliners and indigent residents.

In Caloocan, 600 tricycle drivers were inoculated with Moderna vaccines yesterday.
