Magnitude 4.7 quake jolts Soccsksargen

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rocked parts of Soccsksargen yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs said the tremor, which occurred at about 3:46 a.m., had a depth of 38 kilometers. The epicenter was traced eight kilometers southeast of Maasim, Sarangani.

The quake was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Maasim, Alabel and Glan in Sarangani; General Santos City, and Tampakan in South Cotabato.

Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quake.
