MANILA, Philippines — Former senator Jinggoy Estrada visited the Our Lady of Manaoag Church in Pangasinan over the weekend to pray for the speedy recovery of his father, former president Joseph Estrada, who had tested positive for COVID-19.

“We went to the Our Lady of Manaoag Church to pray for my father’s condition and others who were infected with the virus,” Jinggoy posted on his Facebook account.

Jinggoy said the former Manila mayor’s condition continues to improve as doctors have started to wean him off ventilator support.

“But he still needs a high flow of oxygen. His organs continue to function and he responds well to treatment,” Jinggoy said. “We hope that he continues his bout with COVID-19. Thank you again for all your love, support and prayers.”

Estrada, who is turning 84 on April 19, was rushed to the hospital on March 29 due to COVID-19 infection and severe pneumonia.
