Comelec suspends voter registration

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) suspended yesterday the voter registration in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces under the enhanced community quarantine.

In an advisory, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said offices of local election officers are closed during the Holy Week.

Registration for overseas voting was also suspended.

SC declares half-day work

The Supreme Court (SC) declared half-day work in all courts nationwide tomorrow.

Acting Chief Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe ordered the directive.

“Pursuant to the SC-approved calendar for 2021, all courts nationwide will observe a half-day work schedule on Wednesday,” Bernabe said.

Meanwhile, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) suspended work in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces.

The PRC said it would implement work-from-home schemes in Metro Manila, Cavite and Laguna to minimize disruptions in the delivery of services to the public.

The PRC will resume operations on April 5.

No lotto games

Meanwhile, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced the suspension of lotto games beginning yesterday until April 4 in observance of Lent.

The PCSO suspended lottery draws in Metro Manila as well as the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal. – Evelyn Macairan, Mayen Jaymalin, Rainier Allan Ronda
