Pasig residents fined for firecracker use
MANILA, Philippines — At least seven households in an exclusive subdivision in Pasig City have been fined for lighting up firecrackers during New Year revelry.
In a statement over the weekend, Mayor Vico Sotto said the households were issued violation tickets and fined P5,000 each.
“As promised, we issued tickets to the residents of Valle Verde who used firecrackers,” Sotto said.
He said the local police confiscated P1 million worth of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics.
Pasig and other cities in Metro Manila implemented a firecracker ban to prevent injuries and discourage mass gatherings amid the pandemic.
